Over the past two years the Club has spearheaded raising over $140,000 in order to purchase an updated mobile soup kitchen and disaster unit for Samaritan Homeless Interim Project (SHIP) in Somerville, NJ. The vehicle SHIP has been using for 20 years needs to be replaced and in conjunction with other Rotary clubs, The Rotary Club of Montgomery/Rocky Hill achieved its goal of ordering and presenting this truck to SHIP in early 2019. The vehicle will be used to continue SHIP's service to those in need, delivering hot & cold meals, 7 days a week, at a variety of locations. SHIP also goes where needed when disaster strikes, having gone into NYC to feed first-responders during 9/11 and to the Jersey shore to offer assistance to Hurricane Sandy volunteers workers.
