We will again be meeting outside under the pavilion at Van Horne Park in Rocky Hill at 7:30AM (access via the light at Benjamin Blvd by the Burger King on US 206). Food and drink will not be provided but feel free to bring your own. Masks and social distancing will be required. We will also send out a Zoom link to the membership so that all can participate. If the forecast calls for heavy rain, we will move the meeting strictly to Zoom (an email will be sent out the night before). This week's speaker will be Paula Flory from Move Over Breast Cancer.
As we reported last week, longtime club member and two time President, Dick Ragsdale, passed away. The obituary for Dick can be found here. In addition, below are remembrances from Keith Wheelock and Tony Parziale.
Our friends at Crawford House are in need of a variety of items and supplies. If you are able to donate any of the following items, please bring them to one of our September meetings and Beth Desai will deliver them to Crawford House. Any questions, contact Beth.
At the Installation Dinner, our club officially inducted our newest member, Inder Ghai (sponsored by Andy Mozumdar). Congratulations Inder and welcome to the club!!!
Congratulations to Tyler Tomalavage and his wife, Alexis, on the birth of their daughter on September 21st. The baby weighed in at 8lbs 14oz and 20.5 inches long.
In lieu of a speaker, we are scheduling a Club Assembly for our 10/1 weekly meeting to discuss the financial picture of both our Club and Foundation. Members, please make every effort to attend this meeting. Note, this will be our first meeting back at Cherry Valley.
Our neighbor club to the north, the Hillsborough Rotary Club, is doing a virtual magic show fundraiser on Oct 1st at 7PM. Hillsborough's Got Magic is a live, family friendly, virtual and interactive magic show featuring top magicians and illusionists. For more information and to buy tickets, please visit their website.
As Dorothy said at the end of The Wizard of Oz “there’s no place like home”. Taking another step forward on to the road to normalcy, we will be returning to Cherry Valley County Club on Oct 1 for our weekly breakfast meetings. Our Installation Dinner held at Cherry Valley this past week went off without a hitch (thank you Kevin and Lisa) and I look forward to getting back to our weekly home. Next week will be our final meeting (at least, for the time being) at Van Horne Park.
