This Week's Meeting 5/27
This week we are back on the covered patio area at Cherry Valley Country Club at 7:30AM on Thursday.   Members can also attend via Zoom - an email will go out to members with the link prior to the meeting.   This week's speaker will be Grace Ren from the MHS Future Business Leaders of America.
District 50/50 Wrap Up
All that's left is the drawing which will take place this Thursday at 12:30PM at the Raritan Valley Country Club.   Our club ended up selling 426 tickets and raising over $4,000 which will go towards the Giving Budget.  Thanks to all who sold tickets and special thanks to Paul Blodgett for heading up this project.  You can watch the drawing live by clicking HERE.
Flags For Heroes
Calling all ROTARIANS!!!  Only three weeks left to sell sponsorships for Flags For Heroes.  NOW is the time to call your friends, coworkers and/or family and remind them that you are in a community service organization and this is how we raise funds to do the important work that we do.  Tell them it's only 50 bucks a flag to honor someone special in their lives.  Thanks them for their support and then send them over to our website www.MontgomeryRotary.org - you got this.
6/3 Meeting Virtual Only
Cherry Valley Country Club is holding an event on Thu 6/3 which prevents us from meeting there that day.  As such, we will be holding that meeting via Zoom only (the link will be sent out a few days prior).  Please plan on attending this meeting as elections for next year's officers will be held.
We Need Speakers!
Our Speakers Chair, Cory Wingerter, works very hard to keep our pipeline of speakers full but he's having some trouble getting speakers lined up for our June and July meetings.  If you have any ideas for a good speaker, please contact Cory Wingerter as soon as possible.  Also, if you gave your classification talk many moons ago and would like to give the club an update (also known as a "reclassification talk"), let Cory know.
India COVID Relief
At its last meeting, the club Board voted to send $3,500 from the discretionary portion of the Giving Budget to help battle the huge upswing in deadly COVID-19 variants raging through India.  Kudos to President-Elect Andy Mozumdar for researching and connecting with the Rotary Club of Calcutta Suburban North who will use this money to buy three Oxygen Concentrators.
Habitat For Humanity - New Date!
Calling all volunteers for Habitat For Humanity.  Our new opportunity to work is Friday, June 18th from 9AM - 2PM at the Willow Rd site.  Please email Sharon Prosinski at slprosinski64@gmail.com if you wish to be put on the list.  Hard hats will be provided and there's even a wild rumor floating about that Cory Wingerter has arranged to have Tiger's Tale provide lunch.
President's Message: Hands On
The concept of doing more “hands on” projects popped up a few times last week in different conversations at our weekly meeting.  Given that we just wrapped up selling 50/50 tickets and are in the midst of selling flags for Flags For Heroes, it can seem like all we do is fundraise.  And fundraising is indeed important as the money collected is vital to the charities we support.
