Due to the spike in local coronavirus cases, the Board has decided to suspend in-person meetings through the end of January. We will be meeting Thursday 7:30AM on Zoom and an email will go out to members with the link prior to the meeting. Our speaker this week will be Karen Ambrose, owner of Sweet Gourmet.
Planning for this year's Run With Rotary has commenced. Scheduled for May 2nd, it's still up in the air whether conditions will be suitable to be able to have the in-person run or whether it will need to be some sort of virtual event. President-Elect Andy Mozumdar is heading up the committee and will be scheduling the initial committee meeting soon.
At it's monthly meeting, the Board approved the 2020-21 Giving Budget. Due to the pandemic shutting down our fundraising events, this year's Giving Budget is not a function of last year's money raised as is the usual case. The Board approved a $55,000 Giving Budget predicated on our club raising an additional $11,000 before the end of this Rotary year (6/30/21). If this amount is not raised, the Giving Budget will default to a contingency budget of $44,000. You can view the charities selected by clicking here (note, you have to be logged into ClubRunner to be able to view).
Although the new Rotary year doesn't begin until July 1, President-Elect Andy needs to start shaping his board for next year. If you are looking to get more involved and be on the Board, please let Andy know. If you are on the Board and looking to get less involved, please let Andy know. If you need more information about the roles of any particular board position, feel free to talk to any current board member.
Well, the much-maligned year of 2020 is finally over. Unfortunately, the pandemic and its effects still loom heavy over the start of 2021 but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have firm reason to believe that things will be back to quasi-normal by late Spring/early Summer. I’d prefer it to be quicker, but I think we have to play the hand that is dealt us.
