Due to the spike in local coronavirus cases, the Board has decided to suspend in-person meetings through the end of January. We will be meeting on Zoom and an email will go out to members with the link prior to the meeting. In commemoration of what would have been our Holiday Party, please wear an ugly holiday sweater.
The Montgomery Township Food Pantry is seeking donations of holiday gift cards from local retailers to distribute to 50+ families who are currently relying on the pantry to help make ends meet.
The annual Holiday Giving Families in Need program has been modified this year for the COVID era. While families always enjoy the ability to personally select the gifts they purchase, this year they are more comfortable receiving all gift cards rather than the gifts themselves because of COVID.
At it's monthly meeting, the Board approved the 2020-21 Giving Budget. Due to the pandemic shutting down our fundraising events, this year's Giving Budget is not a function of last year's money raised as is the usual case. The Board approved a $55,000 Giving Budget predicated on our club raising an additional $11,000 before the end of this Rotary year (6/30/21). If this amount is not raised, the Giving Budget will default to a contingency budget of $44,000. You can view the charities selected by clicking here (note, you have to be logged into ClubRunner to be able to view).
Although we just cancelled in-person meetings through the end of January, I am somewhat optimistic that things will be improving come Spring. On that note, we have decided to kickoff the planning for our annual Run With Rotary event which is our biggest fundraiser. If the COVID-19 situation hasn’t improved enough to be able to hold the Run in the usual fashion, our contingency plan is to turn it into a virtual event.
