We will again be having our Thursday weekly meeting outside under the pavilion in Van Horne Park in Rocky Hill at 7:30AM (access via the light at Benjamin Blvd by the Burger King on Route 206). Food and drink will not be provided but feel free to bring your own food and drinks if you prefer. Masks and social distancing will be required. We will also send out a Zoom link to the membership and try to patch people in so that all can participate. If the forecast calls for heavy rain, we will move the meeting strictly to Zoom (an email will go out the night before). This week's speaker with be Chef Eric Wimmer from The Blue Bears.
The Flags For Heroes display is now up in front of Montgomery High School!! The display will be up until Sept 13th. If you want to visit the site, please park in the high school parking lot closest to the display. Do not park in the grass along the street. The list of heroes can be found by clicking here.
We need Rotarians to make sure the flag display in front of MHS is inspected and maintained on daily basis (untwist the flags if needed and pick up any garbage). Please signup via the link below. Click here to signup.
Last week came the news from Rotary International that Africa has been declared polio free. The last endemic country, Nigeria, was certified as Polio Free. The only nations left to go are Afghanistan and Pakistan. Eradicating polio has been a longtime mission of Rotary and it is exciting to note that we are getting close. For more info click here for a brief video.
Our very own Nathalie Cassion was spotted last week helping local nonprofit Arm in Arm pack school supplies for the Robbins School in Trenton. And she wore her club Rotary shirt!
Kevin Lynch has proclaimed Save The Date for this year's Installation Dinner!!! That date is Thursday Sept 17th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Cherry Valley County Club (please note it will be held outside). Details to follow.
The flags are up!! See for yourself - drive past the high school on Route 601. It’s quite a visual display that will no doubt make an impact on those driving by. But the impact of this project extends well beyond the swath of field in front of the high school. And for that I am grateful to Josh Turner and the rest of the Flags For Heroes Committee who worked tirelessly to make this project a reality.
