We will again be having our Thursday weekly meeting outside under the pavilion in Van Horne Park in Rocky Hill at 7:30AM (access via the light at Benjamin Blvd by the Burger King on Route 206). Food and drink will not be provided but feel free to bring your own food and drinks if you prefer. Masks and social distancing will be required. We will also send out a Zoom link to the membership and try to patch people in so that all can participate. If the forecast calls for heavy rain, we will move the meeting strictly to Zoom (an email will go out the night before).
The Flags For Heroes display at Montgomery High School will be held this year from Sept 1st thru Sept 13th. To sponsor a hero, please see the website (www.montgomeryrotary.org) for complete details. We are in the final days...Rotarians, please sell flag sponsorships!! Questions - ask Josh Turner.
The Bikes For the World bike drive has been tentatively scheduled for October 24th. Because the collection truck comes up from Maryland, we may have an issue holding the drive if the out of state quarantine regulations are still in effect. We will make a decision around Sept 1. One possible contingency plan is to be able to store the bikes temporarily until they can be delivered down to the warehouse in Maryland. If anyone has some covered space to be able to temporarily store bikes, please contact Zoltan Nagy.
District 7475 Polio Plus Chair Julie Ann Juliano alerted us to a fundraising opportunity to help wipe out polio (which is one of Rotary's chief worldwide missions). Rotarian John Kramb is going on a very long Motorcycle Ride for Polio. John is a polio survivor and has a goal of $10,000 to be raised for Polio Plus. Every donation that a Rotarian makes will be given to their RI Foundation Account - so money spent here - helps him achieve his goal and helps you to increase your Paul Harris Fellow status. Click on
Kevin Lynch has proclaimed Save The Date for this year's Installation Dinner!!! That date is Thursday Sept 17th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Cherry Valley County Club (please note it will be held outside). Details to follow.
(filling in for Zoltan Nagy who is on vacation is our Immediate Past President Tony Parziale) During these challenging times, we need to keep a little perspective. We need to keep our minds clear and we need to focus on keeping our happiness drive alive! I’d like to share a few things that I’ve found helpful.
