We will be meeting at Cherry Valley Country Club outside on the 2nd floor patio which can be accessed by going through the main entrance and turning left and going through the bar area. Masks must be worn at all times when inside the building. A limited breakfast will be available. We will also send out a Zoom link to the membership so that all can participate. Our speakers this week will be from the Motgomery Twp Police Department discussing marijuana and drug enforcement.
Please help us support Montgomery families in need as they begin to prepare for returning to in-person learning. Students will be unable to use lockers. Water fountains will be turned off. Students must wear masks. And of course, wash hands and use hand sanitizer. The Montgomery Food Pantry is helping with general school supplies, but the 4 items listed are in short supply. Rotarians can sign up to order items here, or donate dollars via Venmo @mrhrotary. Any questions please contact Sharon Prosinski.
Our friends at Crawford House are in need of a variety of items and supplies. If you are able to donate any of the following items, please bring them to one of our September meetings and Beth Desai will deliver them to Crawford House. Any questions, contact Beth.
Our Bikes for the World will be held on Saturday October 24th. The main thing we need to do before then is to publicize the event. We will have social media up shortly but if anyone knows of a business where we can hang a poster for the event, please pick one up at our Thursday meeting.
Our neighbor club to the north, the Hillsborough Rotary Club, is doing a virtual magic show fundraiser on Oct 1st at 7PM. Hillsborough's Got Magic is a live, family friendly, virtual and interactive magic show featuring top magicians and illusionists. For more information and to buy tickets, please visit their website.
We’re coming up on “giving budget season” where the Club board decides which charities to fund. Our Giving Budget last year was approximately $55,000 and this is the amount the board wants to spend this year. The Foundation board would prefer we spend less so as not to draw down our assets in our investment account too quickly. This is one of the topics that will be addressed at our Club Assembly this week. But this is not really what I want to discuss in this column. This is the “how” – what I want to discuss is the “why”.
