Due to the spike in local coronavirus cases, the Board has decided to suspend in-person meetings through the end of February. We will be meeting Thursday 7:30AM on Zoom and an email will go out to members with the link prior to the meeting. Our speaker this week will be Adam Verducci, Chief of Montgomery Twp Volunteer Co #2.
The District is recommending and encouraging Clubs to use EventGroove as a fundraising platform to accept donations, create, promote, and register for events, merchandising, donate buttons, ticketing, accept credit cards in advance and onsite and more. While we are not obligated to use EventGroove, the platform looks promising. We need a few of our members to become well versed in EventGroove so the burden of implementation doesn't all fall upon one person. Below is the schedule of training events on how to use all aspects of EventGroove. All sessions will be at 7 pm via Zoom. ADVANCE registration is required for each session. At a minimum, it would be helpful if some club members were to attend the first session to get an overview of the software's capabilities.
Although the new Rotary year doesn't begin until July 1, President-Elect Andy needs to start shaping his board for next year. If you are looking to get more involved and be on the Board, please let Andy know. If you are on the Board and looking to get less involved, please let Andy know. If you need more information about the roles of any particular board position, feel free to talk to any current board member.
At its January meeting, the club Board made the decision to cancel this year's Run With Rotary. The prevailing sentiment was that the COVID-19 issue will still be with us in the Spring and that the likelihood of success for the race would be dim. Initially, we had thought of doing some sort of virtual or hybrid version of the Run, but again, the feeling was that it would be better to simply not have the event this year and then bring it back to full strength in 2022. However, in order to replace some of the fundraising lost due to the cancellation of RWR, the Board did approve doing a Flags For Heroes event somewhere around Memorial Day or Flag Day. Additionally, we will still be selling tickets for the District 50/50 Raffle.
At it's monthly meeting, the Board approved the 2020-21 Giving Budget. Due to the pandemic shutting down our fundraising events, this year's Giving Budget is not a function of last year's money raised as is the usual case. The Board approved a $55,000 Giving Budget predicated on our club raising an additional $11,000 before the end of this Rotary year (6/30/21). If this amount is not raised, the Giving Budget will default to a contingency budget of $44,000. You can view the charities selected by clicking here (note, you have to be logged into ClubRunner to be able to view).
If you're ever having trouble finding an issue of the Reveille in your email, simply visit the website and look on the left hand side under "About Our Club" and you will see a button for Bulletins. Click that button and all your wildest dreams will come true (assuming, of course, your dreams are about Rotary bulletins).
