George reminds me that the meetings when new members are inducted are the best of the entire year. We will be fortunate to have our District Governor Bob Zeglarski for the swearing in of Heather Achenbach.Though our club has consistently maintained its number of members over the years, elsewhere they are down, which has triggered the merger of our District 7510 with District 7470 to form District 7475. This will include 89 clubs and almost 2,200 members, allowing us to have a bigger impact on local, national and international outreach.
Heather is joining an incredible club. I hope she is an active member for many years to come. Please check back here on the website for the transcript of the ceremony.
Yours in Rotary,
Today we are pleased to induct Heather Achenbach as a new member of the Montgomery/Rocky Hill Rotary Club. This new member will carry the Classification of Non-profit Realm.
Heather, by joining our Club, you will in fact be joining an organization of 1.2 million members in over 200 nations around the world. You will be a welcomed and honored guest at over 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.
Rotary is one of the most prestigious organizations in the World. It was formed in 1905 by Paul Harris so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful lifelong relationships, and give back to their communities.
Rotary's Focus is to Promote Peace, Fight Disease, Provide Clean Water and Sanitation, Save Mothers and Children, Support Education, and Grow Local Economies.
As a Rotarian, you will be expected to abide by the Rotary Four-Way-Test of the things we think, say and do:
Our motto is “Service Above Self”. As a Rotarian you will be expected to promote high ethical standards in your business and profession, and to pursue the ideal of service in your personal, business and community life.
Turn your proven passion for change into action through Rotary. Rotary members dream big and do whatever it takes to find solutions. With your Rotary membership, you can continue to be a part of the solution in making the world a better place for humanity worldwide.
By accepting membership in Rotary, you will be expected to attend our meeting regularly and to make your knowledge and expertise available to the Club, and in support of our projects and activities. On behalf of the members of our club, we want you to have fun, to have a smile on your face when you wake up on Thursday mornings or think about an upcoming event or remembering the words of a recent speaker.
At this time, I ask all our members to stand . . .
Today we welcome Heather Achenbach as the newest member of our Club, and as the newest member of Rotary in the entire world.
Dennis, will you kindly affix the Rotary pin on our newest member’s lapel.
Thank you and welcome.
